Aluminium hydroxide is decomposed by dehydration at 200-350°C, accompanied by substantial heat absorption. Therefore, aluminium hydroxide filled in rubber, plastic, or paper minimizes its temperature increase even if heated, promotes self-extinguishing performance, and reduces the release of fumes. In addition, aluminium hydroxide generates no poisonous gas and consequently functions as an excellent flame-retardant filler. It also improves the arc resistance and tracking resistance of plastic. As such, fine or extra fine particles (H-42M and H-43M) are suitablefor these purposes.
